Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation - Workshop Two
The second Waste Warriors workshop was held in Kinonjeoshtegon First Nation, July 15-19th. There, the participants learned more about working together as a team and building ideas for their proposals. Some of the presentations included: traditional teachings shared by Elder Janet Travers and interpreted in English by her daughter Adeline; goal setting, project planning, managing tasks; creating partnerships; a presentation by Recycle Everywhere/ Canadian Beverage Container Recycling Association (CBCRA); beginning a budget; and, looking for funding. The Waste Warriors did a beach clean-up, swam, toured the community and secret caves just outside of the community, had a wiener roast, and went to the Peguis First Nation Treaty Days after our tours of the Peguis and Fisher River Cree Nation landfills. It was an eventful week!
