Lake Manitoba First Nation - Workshop Four and Celebration Event
The fourth, and final, Waste Warriors workshop was hosted by Lake Manitoba First Nation from February 10-14th. The waste warriors shared projects updates, discussed the lessons they learned, and completed project evaluations. They learned about how to continue community leadership efforts, how to continue being a waste warrior, and about local waste management in Lake Manitoba First Nation. They also heard from a local elder Florence McLean as well as Amy Smith and Chantal Henderson from Green Action Centre. The waste warriors also took a site tour of the Coldwell Eriksdale Waste Disposal Grounds. Following their time in Lake Manitoba First Nation, the waste warriors traveled to Winnipeg, MB. In Winnipeg, the waste warriors participated in tours of ReGen Composites and Mother Earth Recycling. The waste warriors finished the workshop by participating at a celebration event with speakers from past workshops, guests, friends and family. During the celebration event the Waste Warriors shared their experiences of designing a waste diversion project, writing a proposal to seek funding for their projects, and project implementation through group presentations. The waste warriors were presented with swag, that featured the waste warrior logo, and certificates.
